Norilsk Nickel says considering share split seriously
MOSCOW, Sep 7 (PRIME) -- Metals producer Norilsk Nickel is seriously considering splitting the shares, Director of the Department for Investment Community Relations Mikhail Borovikov said on Thursday at a webinar organized by SberCIB.
"We are quite seriously considering the issue. We understand that the share is very pricey in absolute terms now, and a split would allow us to raise liquidity. But we must bear in mind that this requires some corporate approvals," Borovikov said.
He said that the board of directors could decide on the issue, and changes to the articles of association could be made in a year.
The executive separately said that Norilsk Nickel was not considering buying back shares from non-residents, because the step implies costs.
